Let’s spread the word about yiddish culture and klezmer music together. This is the mission of our 40th anniversary celebration.

The Klezmatics.

The legendary New York Yiddish band The Klezmatics has changed the face of contemporary Jewish culture through their uniquely original and expansive work in the fields of klezmer music and Yiddish song, blending klezmer’s aching East European Jewish tunes with raucous Latin stomps, wild jazz riffs and provocative Balkan, Middle Eastern, African and American rhythms. Their career achievements span 13 full-length recordings, countless international concert tours and festivals across five continents, and collaborations with renowned icons of music, theater, television, radio, cinema and dance. The Klezmatics are the subject of an acclaimed documentary film (On Holy Ground) and the recipients of numerous international accolades, including a 2006 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album.

Pulitzer prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner and Israeli vocal icon Chava Alberstein, plus many other prominent artists working within multiple genres.

In 2026, The Klezmatics will be celebrating their 40th anniversary. This milestone will include the re-issue of many of their landmark recordings which will include previously unpublished material. The band is also in the early stages of planning new recordings, including a tribute album featuring their long-time world music collaborators and friends. We are also working on a world-wide celebration tour, unique collectible merchandise, an exhibition of artifacts from across The Klezmatics’ four-decade history and possibly an updated documentary film and career-spanning coffee-table book.

40th ANNIVERSARY TOUR (2025-27)

40th ANNIVERSARY TOUR (2025-27)

The Grammy Award-winning Klezmatics are planning a World Tour, a KLEZMEREVOLUTION, to celebrate their 40th anniversary together with fans around the globe. Europe in particular has a very special place in the band’s history – it is where, in 1989, they experienced their very first of countless successful tours. In fact, the majority of the band’s fans are still in Europe - according to Spotify, 9 out of 10 top cities among the band listeners are European.

The Klezmatics look forward to returning here with a series of anniversary shows that will cover different stages of the band’s musical journey and the presentation of new material, as well as collaborations with musicians they’ve worked with in the past and new musical colleagues, across genres. The band is primed to once again grace world music festival stages and other venues across Europe and beyond. The band’s touring history is available upon request.
